Our Inn rests on six plus acres on the northern side of the Common in Lyme. The Inn's natural unimposing homey feeling encourages walks throughout the Inn and it's surroundings. Our property has a natural duck pond, water fountain, flower gardens, old brick smoke house and historic stonewalls. The pond and gardens are natural sites for wedding ceremonies, receptions or meals.

The Main Building was built as a home in 1780, which we restored to maintain its New England family heritage. Attached to the main structure are the Carriage House and Barn.

The Carriage House has a Garrison wood stove and basket-weave brick floor which steps up to wide board floors. In the late 1880s, this Carriage House was designed to accommodate the arrival of New England's finest ladies and gentlemen in their horse-drawn buggies or the 'new-fangled' horseless carriages. We created an area in the Carriage House to serve beverages for receptions and other special gatherings.

Next to the Carriage House is the old Barn, which is used for private dining groups. It has original wide board floors, old exposed beams and original paned windows. The room can accommodate any personality - group or corporate - and has French doors that lead to a New Hampshire granite patio in the courtyard.

All of our 22 rooms have private baths, telephone, modem hookup, and air conditioning. Each of our rooms has at least 1 Queen Bed. We have 9 rooms with Queen beds, 3 suites, and 10 rooms with two beds (7 with 2 queen-sized beds and 3 hosting 1 queen-sized bed and 1 twin bed)

All rooms are individually decorated with unique décor and homemade quilts, stenciling on the walls and large-wide-board-floors. Four guestrooms are hosted on the first floor, and all first floor rooms are handicap accessible. Our other sixteen rooms are on the second floor in two separate wings, with two additional rooms on the third floor.

Our various size common rooms and lodging facilities, makes Dowds' Country Inn the ideal place to host weddings, family reunions, corportate meetings, seminars, or retreats. We can accomodate most any size group.
